Frequently Asked Questions
What is feeder baseball?
The PCHS Feeder Baseball program is designed to further develop ballplayers and help them prepare for baseball at the high school level.
Are there tryouts?
Yes - the current tryout schedule is:
Saturday, August 10th 9:00a - 12:00p
Monday, August 12th 6:00p - 8:00p
Wednesday, August 14th 6:00p - 8:00p
What grade levels can try out?
Our goal this season is to build an 8th grade team, and a combined 6th/7th grade team. In the past if we had a great turn out of 6th graders we have built a dedicated 6th grade team as well. This is fully dependent on turn out and coaching availability
Do I have to be zoned for PCHS?
Tryouts are available to players currently zoned, or intend to be attending high school at PCHS. If your destination high school does not offer feeder baseball, you are eligible to tryout. Please keep in mind that the spirit of the feeder program is prepare the players for playing for the high school team they intend to play for.
Who are the coaches?
8th Grade - Stephen White & Ryan Steel
6th/7th Grade - Russell Dellinger & Tom Liles
What does the schedule look like for the feeder program?
This is a two season program.
Fall - Development
We will spend mid August through October with a heavy focus on development. Practice will be held 2-3 times per week. We will mix in scrimmages and a potential tournament or two.
Spring - League Play
In early January we will pick back up and begin to prepare for league play. League play consists of 14-20 games starting in late February into April. We will be playing other high school feeder programs in the area. Some travel will be involved when playing at other schools.
What are the dues involved?
Yes, just like any other team we have the costs of uniform and gear, umpires, baseballs, insurance, field maintenance, field rental etc. We do our best to keep the costs down and lean on fundraising to help bolster the entire PCHS Baseball program. We expect dues to be around $650, payable in two parts. We never want to turn away a player for monetary reasons. Please do not let this be a reason not to try out. We will work with you.
What if my player is playing on another team or another sport?
We are actively encouraging players to play with their travel or rec teams in the fall. When spring rolls around we would like to take a priority for the league season. Many travel programs in the spring have very few game wise conflicts with the feeder schedule.
